Agent-assisted setup
Connect DesignGen to Grok
Add DesignGen as a custom MCP connector in Grok, on the web or from Grok Build, and run print-ready workflows from a Grok conversation.
The copied brief contains the MCP command, a self-contained DesignGen skill, OAuth handoff instructions, and a read-only verification checklist. It never includes a token or authorizes paid work.
Let your agent configure everything it safely can.
Paste the copied Markdown into Grok. It will inspect existing configuration, add DesignGen MCP, install the workflow skill where supported, and open OAuth. Your account and approval choices stay with you.

Agent configures
Grok adds MCP and installs the DesignGen skill where supported.

You authorize
Sign in, review scopes and policy, then approve access.
Your agent handles
- Checks existing MCP configuration before changing it.
- Adds the production Streamable HTTP endpoint.
- Installs the self-contained DesignGen workflow skill.
- Verifies OAuth and connection status without spending credits.
Only you handle
- Signing in to your DesignGen account.
- Reviewing the scopes requested by Grok.
- Choosing the approval policy you are comfortable with.
- Approving or denying the OAuth connection.
Fastest setup: hand this page to your agent
Use Copy setup for your agent at the top of this page. Grok Build can add the server itself; the Grok web app needs you to paste the URL once.
- Grok reaches the connector from its own servers, so the endpoint must be the public production URL, not a local tunnel.
- You handle only the browser-owned steps: sign in, review scopes and approval policy, and approve access.
- Custom connectors are a paid feature. Check your plan before starting.
Grok on the web
Grok calls this Bring Your Own MCP. Add the production endpoint as a custom connector, then authorize in the browser.
- Open the connectors page in the Grok web app.
- Add a custom MCP server and paste the production URL.
- Approve the DesignGen sign-in when Grok opens it, reviewing the scopes it asks for.

The Grok Build CLI adds remote servers over HTTP and handles OAuth for you.
- Do not configure a static auth header. DesignGen uses browser OAuth and never needs a pasted token.
- After authorizing, call mcp_connection_status to confirm the client, scopes and approval policy.
